Easter Saturday at Whalley Golf Club saw Captain Richard Ferley drive off to mark the beginning of the season. His magnificently straight drive was witnessed by many fellow members.
The competition was won by Nick Williamson with 70, second in the first division was Gary Meakin with 71 and third was John Heap with 72. The second division was won by Matt Bartle with 72. Second was Gareth Hill with 75 and third was Chris Thompson with 75 who also won the prize for guessing the length of the captain’s drive. There were two twos on the day.
Captain and Lady Captain, Margaret Calvert, hosted a dinner dance in the evening with a champagne reception served by two glamorous bunny girls. A bottle tombola raised £250 for the North West Air Ambulance Service. and seventy members and guests danced the evening away to live entertainment.
