Captain Richard Ferley raises a glass to celebrate the reshaping of Whalley Golf Club’s signature hole.

Interviewed he said, “I’m grateful to our Greens Chairman, Paul Chalker and his greens staff, who have created a course which is both challenging and enjoyable to play.

Three years ago I envisioned a course which rewarded the straight shot and bunkers which were such as to enable escape with a good bunker shot. I’m really pleased that in my captain’s year we have a course of which to be proud.

I should be pleased if members landing in the ‘Captain’s bunker’ would donate at least 50p to the Captain’s charity box on the bar.

Rule 24.2b applies to a ball landing on the step can be dropped without penalty outside the hazard at the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole.
