Last Thursday, was the hottest day of the year so far for Lady Captains’ Day at Whalley Golf Club. With temperatures reaching 30c the Ladies enjoyed a wonderful day’s golf hosted by Lady Captain, Agnus Flanagan. She treated everyone to lovely refreshments at the halfway house which included a very welcome ice cold Pimms that went down very well in the soaring temperatures. Afterwards many enjoyed a delicious buffet provided by the in-house catering team.In the early evening, for those who still had any energy left, a fun nine-hole Texas Scramble was played with teams comprising three full adult members and a junior member.Lady Captain’s Prize was won by Sally Blenkinship with a net 67, second prize on a card play off with 68 points was won by Fran Gierat from Lorraine Nicholson who came third. Best front nine was won by Allison Nuttall, with best back nine won by Janet Halfpenny. Nearest the pin on the 18th was won by Carol Fletcher, the longest drive on the 7th was won by Helen Hamer and nearest the line on the 5th was won by Trish Marshall. Best Gross score was Karen Thompson with 86 and least number of putts was Joan Whittaker with 29 putts.Alongside the main competition was a Stableford Competition which was won by Carolyn Davey.The winning team in the evening was Keith Johnson, Craig Taylor, George Speakman Dunford and Linda Rhodes.The picture shows Lady Captain, Agnus Flanagan, presenting the prize to The winner Sally Blenkinship.

31 juniors competed in Captains Junior Trophy Competition on Sunday 8 July.
A new trophy had been kindly donated by Raymond Bradley to be played for annually.
Winner of the 18 hole competition with 40 points was George Edwards
Runner up Thomas Hibbert had 39 points and Junior Captain Sophie Driver came 3rd with 38 points.
9 hole winner with 27 points! Gracie Cutting who had a big handicap reduction last week after winning Presidents. Runner up Oliver Henderson and 3rd place taken by Ellie Whitwell.
6 hole winner 7 year old Euan Rushton had 18 points. 2nd place George Speakman-Dunford and 3rd was Isaac Spence.
Winning the 3 hole Evie Henderson was closely followed by William Thornber on acpo with Lucas Robinson.
Champion chipper Francesca Esposito and Izzy Cutting best putter.
All other competitors received an engraved medal from Captain.
