MEN

President’s Prize Competition

The format of the Competition will be determined by the President and will be open to all FULL Male and Female members in possession of an active club handicap.

 

Captain’s Prize Competition

The competition will consist of 18 holes Medal Play on handicap. It will be open to all FULL Male members in possession of an active club handicap. The Captain’s Prize will be awarded to the best net score.

 

Arthur Longworth Challenge Cup

A 36-hole Medal Competition played over 18 holes on each of two consecutive Saturdays. The winner will be the competitor returning the lowest net score for the 36 holes.

 

President’s Putter Competition

A knock-out Greensome over 18 holes on match play. Each round must be completed by the date shown on the competition notice board.

 

The Frank Longworth Trophy

A medal round competition to be played over 18 holes on handicap.

 

The Hitchen Trophy

A medal round competition over 18 holes on handicap. The 18 members returning the lowest net score for any two cards taken out between 1st April and 31st August to qualify for the final to be played on a Sunday in September. Qualifying cards to be marked ‘HITCHEN’ and the entry fee paid prior to taking out the first card.     As many cards as liked may be entered within the qualifying period.

 

The Postlethwaite Cup

An individual knock-out Match Play competition to be played over 18 holes. Each round must be completed by the date shown on the competition notice board.

 

The Scratch Medal and Trophy

A Medal competition won by the member returning the lowest gross score over 36 holes.

 

The Dr Postlethwaite Veterans Trophy

A Medal competition over 18 holes on handicap for members who have attained the age of 55.

 

The Vintage Decanter

A Medal competition over 18 holes on handicap for members who have attained the age of 65.

 

The Leslie Haynes Trophy

A Stableford competition over 18 holes on handicap.

 

The Brandreth Rosebowl

A trophy to be competed for by all winners of club singles competitions during the season.

 

The Ultima Trophy

A trophy to be competed for on the same day as The Brandreth Trophy for competitors who are not entitled to enter the Brandreth.

 

The Handicap Trophy

To be presented to the player who reduces his handicap by the most number of shots during the season of qualifying competitions.

 

The Ecletic Trophy

To be played over the months of April to October. The competition will apply only to qualifying rounds marked with an asterisk. The trophy will be presented to the player with the lowest net score. There will also be a prize for the lowest gross score.

 

The Golfer of the Year Trophy

To be awarded to the competitor who has the lowest total net score in any nine of the club medal qualifying competitions.

 

The Fourball Knock-out Trophy

A knock-out fourball better ball match play competition to be played over 18 holes. Each round must be played by the date shown on the competition notice board.

 

The Fourball Trophy

A competition will be an 18-hole fourball better ball medal. The winner will be the competitors returning the lowest net score.

 

The Len Rowbottom Trophy

A Stableford Competition over 18 holes on handicap.

 

The Dr. H. Sloan Trophy

A Mixed Team Four-Ball competition played over 18 holes. A team consists of one male and one female, the names being drawn by the Captain and Lady Captain prior to the Shotgun start at 1p.m. First team drawn starts at 1, second at 2, etc.

 

Robert Lightfoot Trophy

A medal competition played over 18 holes on full handicap.

 

 

LADIES

The Longworth Cup

Singles knock-out between 8 players from 2 qualifying rounds. Handicap limit 30.

 

The Greenwood Cup

Singles knock-out.

Handicap limit 30.

 

The Margaret Lightfoot Trophy

Medal round.Handicap limit 30.

 

The Celia Porter Trophy

Stableford competition.

Full handicap, limit 36.

 

The Veterans Cup

Medal round over 13 holes.

Age restriction 60 years and over.

 

Lady Captain’s Charity

Stableford competition.

Handicap limit 36

 

Past Captain’s Rosebowl

Medal round. Best score on the day.

Eligible to any Past Lady Captain of Whalley Golf Club.

 

The High – Task Competition

Best Gross & Best Net over 36 holes played on one day.

Handicap limit 30.

 

The Eclectic Trophy

Awarded to the player with the best score on each hole in qualifying rounds over the whole season.

 

The Match-Play Doubles Plate

4 Ball Better Ball match-play knock-out competition.

Handicap limit 30.

 

NOTE : No member with a provisional or inactive handicap will be awarded a prize in any competition.
