The weather was kind to the 24 juniors competing in our Junior Open coming from clubs as far away as Royal Lytham.
Zak Sturgeon from Nelson won on a card playoff playing off the WHITE blocks 86-24-62. Runner up Nathan Whalley from Greenmount 81-19-62. Winner of the gross prize was Robert Kellett from Longridge 75-8-67. Winner off the RED blocks for players with handicaps of more than 28 was Ethan Townley from Towneley Park 102-36-66. Second and third places were taken by our junior members Aristo Wood and Junior Captain Nick Cunliffe with net 67 and 77. Bethan Andrew and Liyana Laheri the only two girls who entered both had a net 72.

The weather was kind for the annual Herbie Sloan Trophy competition won by four time winner Pete Seavers and his partner today, Anne Prior with 69 points; second were Carol Fletcher and Steven Green followed by Viv Lee and Richard Fairley in third place.
Despite the recent deluge the Green’s staff at Whalley managed to prepare the course in excellent condition to host the Lancashire U 14 Boys’ Championship. 37 of Lancashire’s best young prospects played impressively. Parents and spectators enjoyed the day. Jack Wallbank of Ashton & Lea GC, playing off a handicap of 3, won the gross score trophy with Shaun Dobson, from Dunscar GC, as runner-up.
