I’m proud to be Captain of Whalley Golf Club, which opened its doors as a refuge for the unfortunate inhabitants of Whalley, subject to the devastating effects of the floods on Boxing Day.Manager, Julia Duffy and her family, willingly gave up their Christmas to tend to the needs of the emergency service personnel assembled to help the people affected by the flood.I’ve attended a few nativity services this Christmas, which attempted to depict the meaning behind the birth of Christ. My club enacted that real meaning behind that first Christmas. I salute all those who showed true help and compassion to those in need.Richard Ferley
